2009 RACING CALENDAR

As the days are (finally) getting warmer and sailing season is getting closer I am looking forward to clearing out some garage space and dragging the old boat down to the club for another season of sailing and racing.  This year we will be having four racing series: 

• Spring Series - May 3, 10, 17 & 24
• Early Summer Series - May 31, June 14, 21, 28 & July 4, 12, & 19
• Late Summer Series -  July 26 & August 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30
• Fall Series – September 6, 13, 20, 27 & October 4

We are asking that the following guidelines be followed:

• Skippers’ meetings will be held at 1 p.m. before each race in the series.

To make things easier on the race committee boat, we are making the skippers’ meetings mandatory this year.  Boats that are on the course but which did not have at least the skipper or one crew attend the skippers’ meeting will not be tallied in the standings.

• In order to qualify for trophies for a given series, racers will have to have finished at least 6 races in that series.
• Races will start promptly at 1:30 p.m. (weather permitting)

We will be offering clinics for racers and for race committee.  These will be offered at 12 noon on the first Sunday of each series. Please plan on attending at least one of these clinics:

• Sunday, May 3
• Sunday, May 31
• Sunday, July 26
• Sunday, September 6

Many hands make light work.  On your membership applications, you were asked to note dates that you would not be available to serve on race committee.  I will be assigning dates and getting these out to you shortly.  Prior to the start of the first series, please call me if your assigned date does not work and I will work with you to arrange a swap.  To avoid last minute scrambling on my part, I would ask that after May 4 members arrange for any swaps on their own and notify me of the changes.
